Venezuela #2...Maracaibo

I apologize that it is taking me so long to share all of the mission trip pictures with you.   I have had a hard time getting online lately, and things are somewhat busy as I am trying to prepare for college and spend as much time with my family as possible.

This will be a little bit longer post...
When I get the chance, I am going to work on giving me blog a face-lift and making it a little more enjoyable for you all to look at.   I might even mess around with switching to a WordPress blog.   But for now, this will have to do.   I do hope that you all are enjoying it just the same. :)

These will be the last of the Maracaibo pictures...
After that, we went to Coro for one last week before heading back to the U.S.  I'll be sharing those pictures with you a little later.

I heard that there are less than 50 Gospel preaching churches in all of Venezuela.   This number may have changed in more recent years, but just imagine all those souls without Christ...
Venezuela is mainly a Catholic country.   The Catholics there are very religious and dedicated to their faith.   We had the opportunity to visit some Catholic churches and religious monuments, while in Maracaibo, to learn a little more about their faith.
I wanted to share a few of those shots with you...

After visiting the Catholic churches and being able to understand their religion a little more, we had that much more of a burden when we went passing out tracts and inviting people to church.
You see, we have The Way, The Truth, and The Life.   The answer to life's question and problems, and the only way to get to Heaven--and it is not through the Virgin Mary.
The answer is Jesus Christ.   Which is exactly the reason we went to Venezuela in the first place.   To show those precious souls the way to Christ...

 Passing out tracts...

Pastor Tim getting excited about the evening evangelistic service.

They seriously do not have ugly babies in Venezuela.

One night, we held a service in an Indian village.   I believe this was in one of the church member's homes...

Teaching the kids about Jesus...

Pastor Tim had his birthday while we were there.
Happy birthday!
 Before the evening service...

The day before we left Maracaibo, our evangelistic conference was over, so we spent the whole day sight seeing and shopping.

Mr. Erik was a blessing on the trip.
The missionary's daughters were so sweet...

Pastor Tim and Mrs. Laura...God is using them greatly!
 The guys goofing off...

We had an amazing week in Maracaibo.   God willing, we will be able to go back again very soon!
Until then, you all remain in our thoughts and prayers.

The very next day, we took a taxi ride to Coro for another week of special meetings.
Come back soon for more pictures!

Venezuela #1...Maracaibo

I hope you have been enjoying the mission trip pictures so far!
The second week of our trip, we took an itty bitty plane (with no air conditioning!) from Aruba to the nearby country of Venezuela.
We flew into the city of Coro, where we stayed overnight, and then in the early hours of the morning (so early it's almost painful), we started on a taxi ride that would take us to the busy city of Maracaibo.
Our friend, Angel, who we met last time we were in Venezuela, accompanied us on the taxi ride so that we would have a Spanish speaking person with us.
The four hour ride in a small, cramped car, with a driver who didn't speak English could have made for a really long day...but a couple quick stops along the way made it a little better. :)

Angel and Aubrey took a football break.

Finally in Maracaibo...
We had the opportunity to hold special meetings in Pastor Tim's church, which was actually held in someone's garage area.
 The view from church...

Our ministry team learned several Spanish songs.   Here we are, practicing music for the service...

The Sunday morning service.   The garage was packed, and people were excited!   Here, Pastor Tim is welcoming everyone to the special meetings.
Proof that I was there. :)
My dad preaching, through interpreting, the first service in Venezuela.
I don't think there are any ugly kids in Venezuela...
The puppy is pretty cute too. :)

 Children's meetings inside a church member's home.

Mrs. Laura, Pastor Tim's wife, teaching the kids a Bible verse.

Aubrey found another string music lover.

Keep coming back for more!
